In an exciting development for survival horror fans, Capcom has unveiled a brand-new arcade adaptation of Resident Evil 2 called Resident Evil 2: Dead Shot. This unexpected version brings the classic zombie survival experience to arcade cabinets, though currently it's only playable at a single test location in Romford, UK.

The original 1998 Resident Evil 2 remains one of the franchise's most beloved installments, with its 2019 remake achieving both critical and commercial success. This new arcade iteration has already generated significant buzz among the series' dedicated fanbase, though access remains extremely limited at present.

The 2019 remake's impressive sales recently made history, becoming the best-selling game in the Resident Evil series with nearly 14 million copies sold, surpassing both Village and Resident Evil 7. Its faithful recreation of the original while introducing modern gameplay mechanics earned it Game of the Year honors at the 2019 Golden Joystick Awards.

IGN recently released footage showcasing Resident Evil 2: Dead Shot's fast-paced action gameplay. The arcade version, available exclusively at Namco Funscape in Romford, adapts elements from the 2019 remake into a light gun shooter format. Currently in development, the test version offers two playable episodes with three additional episodes locked.

This marks the first time the Resident Evil 2 experience has been adapted for arcade cabinets. While the remake is widely available across multiple platforms, Capcom hasn't announced plans for wider distribution of this arcade version or how long it will remain at the UK test location.

The Resident Evil franchise continues to expand with multiple projects. The mobile game Resident Evil Survival Unit, featuring classic characters like Jill Valentine and Barry Burton, is scheduled for 2025. Additionally, the next mainline entry, Resident Evil Requiem, will launch in February 2026, following Grace Ashcroft's journey through Raccoon City.
