Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.3 May Include a Hidden Hairstyle from 2023 Contest

After the 88th Letter from the Producer LIVE broadcast, Final Fantasy 14 enthusiasts have been buzzing on social media about a potential new hairstyle coming in the 7.3 update. The hairstyle in question appears to be one of the winning designs from the 2023 hairstyle contest, spotted in previews of armor from the upcoming San d'Oria alliance raid.

During the livestream, Final Fantasy 14 producer and director Naoki Yoshida confirmed that Patch 7.3, titled The Promise of Tomorrow, is scheduled to launch on August 5 following server maintenance. This major update will conclude the Dawntrail main story arc while hinting at the game's future direction. Additionally, players can look forward to the Pilgrim's Traverse deep dungeon, Yok Huy allied society quests for crafters, and the next chapter of the Echoes of Vana'diel alliance raid series.

Sharp-eyed players examining the new armor sets - which draw heavy inspiration from Final Fantasy 11 - noticed what appears to be an unreleased hairstyle. On the official FFXIV subreddit, user Pinkbunnies66 sparked discussion by questioning whether this was an accidental reveal. Community members quickly identified it as likely being the third-place winner from Square Enix's 2023 hairstyle design contest.

The hairstyle was showcased on a female Miqo'te character model wearing San d'Oria raid armor. Featuring medium-length hair with inner highlights, this design would offer players fresh customization options for their characters. While the model wore decorative bows, these were confirmed to be part of the armor set rather than the hairstyle itself.

If confirmed, this wouldn't be the first time Dawntrail has incorporated contest-winning hairstyles. Patch 7.15 previously introduced A Half Times Two, obtainable through Clouddark Demimateria II from The Cloud of Darkness (Chaotic) raid or via the Market Board.

Given FFXIV's tradition of adding new hairstyles in major updates, it's plausible that Patch 7.3 will continue this trend. However, players will need to wait for official confirmation about whether this particular design will make the cut and how it might be obtained.
