The Xbox Insider initiative allows participants to preview upcoming features before general release, but it sometimes introduces unstable builds, and this appears to be one of the more severe cases observed lately.

Since the Xbox Series X/S launch in November 2020, estimates suggest over 30 million units have been sold worldwide. The platform regularly receives system updates, though not all deploy smoothly from the outset.

Resolving the Xbox Update Problem

Beginning September 2, numerous participants reported encountering error code 0x8B050033 during console startup (as identified by Pure Xbox). After powering on their devices, users found themselves unable to install updates or access their game libraries. The gaming community quickly turned to social platforms to share their experiences, while also circulating a temporary solution. By logging into their Insider-linked Microsoft account, launching the Insider Hub, and removing their device from the program, affected users can at least perform a factory reset and reattempt updates. Microsoft is anticipated to release an official patch addressing this problem shortly.

This incident represents just one of several technical challenges Xbox users have faced recently. Last month, the Xbox network experienced a significant service interruption that temporarily prevented players from sending game invitations and messages.

In July, the Xbox community observed another unusual behavior where the system prompted users to update all installed games simultaneously. While the update process completed successfully and games functioned normally afterward, some speculated the issue might relate to license verification glitches.

Just weeks prior, another significant outage affected Xbox Party Chat functionality and other features, creating difficulties for players attempting online multiplayer sessions. While Xbox's online services typically maintain strong reliability, these incidents demonstrate occasional service interruptions, though they're generally resolved promptly.
