Pokemon GO Introduces New Ice-Type Pokemon in Cozy Companions Event
2025-07-29 05:21:47Pokemon GO is set to welcome several new Generation 8 Ice-type Pokemon as part of its upcoming Cozy Companions event. This limited-time event follows the familiar structure of previous Pokemon GO activities, offering trainers the chance to encounter rare Pokemon in the wild, complete special research tasks, and earn bonus XP through various in-game activities.
The Cozy Companions event isn't the only exciting addition to Pokemon GO's August schedule. Players can also look forward to Fossil Research Day and the August 2025 Community Day featuring Rookidee, which won the community vote back in June. During Community Day, Rookidee will appear more frequently in the wild, with increased chances of encountering its Shiny variant.
Niantic has confirmed that the Cozy Companions event will run from August 6 at 10:00 AM to August 12 at 8:00 PM local time. The highlight of the event will be the debut of two Gen 8 Ice-type Pokemon: the adorable worm-like Snom and its elegant evolution, Frosmoth. To evolve Snom into Frosmoth, trainers will need to collect 400 Snom Candy and earn 10 Hearts with Snom as their buddy, with the evolution only possible at night.
Exciting Features of the Cozy Companions Event
- Event Duration: August 6-12, 2025
- New Pokemon Debuts: Snom and Frosmoth
- Special Bonuses: 2× XP from Egg hatching, extra Special Trades, and faster friendship level increases
- Shiny Debut: Tandemaus will appear in its Shiny form for the first time
- Increased Spawns: Abra, Geodude, Alolan Geodude, Karrablast, Shelmet, and Phantump will appear more frequently with Shiny potential
The introduction of these new Ice-types from Generation 8, along with the debut of Shiny Tandemaus from Generation 9, demonstrates Pokemon GO's continued expansion of its Pokedex. This event also raises questions about which other Pokemon from recent generations might be added to the game in future updates.
With Cozy Companions scheduled between Fossil Research Day on August 2 and Community Day on August 30, Pokemon GO players have a packed event calendar this month. The week-long duration of Cozy Companions offers more flexibility than the typical three-hour Community Day windows, giving trainers ample time to participate and collect all the new Pokemon.
