Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound - A New Chapter in the Legendary Franchise

The highly anticipated Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound is set to deliver a thrilling 60 FPS experience on most platforms, with the exception of the Nintendo Switch. Scheduled for release on July 31, 2025, this side-scrolling action platformer will be available on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and the original Switch.

Developed by The Game Kitchen, the studio behind the critically acclaimed Blasphemous series, Ragebound marks a return to the franchise's 2D roots. Announced at The Game Awards in December 2024, the game introduces new protagonists, Kenji Muzo and Kumori, stepping away from the traditional Ryu Hayabusa storyline. Additionally, the game will be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one.

In a recent update, Dotemu, the publisher of Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound, confirmed that the Switch version will launch with a 30 FPS cap, while other platforms will enjoy a smooth 60 FPS experience. The publisher also hinted that the game will benefit from the enhanced hardware of the upcoming Switch 2 via backward compatibility, though specific performance improvements remain undisclosed.

This news may come as a disappointment to Switch players, especially considering The Game Kitchen's previous titles, Blasphemous and Blasphemous 2, managed to achieve consistent 60 FPS on the same console. However, Dotemu has promised post-launch updates to potentially improve performance on the Nintendo platform.

2025 is shaping up to be a landmark year for the Ninja Gaiden franchise. Following the release of Ninja Gaiden 2 Black in January, fans can look forward to Ragebound in July, and the long-awaited Ninja Gaiden 4 in October, marking the series' first mainline entry since 2012.
