The developer cited tsunami warnings across Japan's coastal regions as the primary reason for this delay, prioritizing team safety during the natural disaster alert.

The studio's experimental multiplayer expansion, Elden Ring Nightreign, currently maintains a 'Mostly Positive' rating on Steam after overcoming initial player skepticism. Early adopters criticized the mandatory three-player team structure and unbalanced matchmaking, which particularly disadvantaged solo adventurers. Community demand for duo gameplay became so strong that players developed unofficial mods to enable two-player co-op months before the official feature announcement.

The delay affects more than just the Duo Expeditions mode. FromSoftware has also postponed the second cycle of the Everdark Sovereign endgame content, which will now follow after the 1.02 patch deployment.
