Nintendo Switch and Accessories Set for Price Increase in the US Market

2025-08-02 02:02:24

Nintendo fans in the United States should prepare for higher prices as the company announces upcoming cost adjustments for several Switch console models and accessories. After maintaining stable pricing for over eight years since its initial launch, the popular gaming system will see significant price increases starting August 3, 2025.

The decision follows months of internal discussions at Nintendo regarding market conditions in the U.S. While the company hasn't provided detailed explanations, economic factors including potential tariff impacts appear to be influencing these changes. Notably, Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa had previously expressed concerns about tariffs affecting the upcoming Switch 2 console.

The price adjustments will affect all current Switch models:

  • Standard Nintendo Switch: Rising from $299.99 to $339.99
  • Switch OLED Model: Increasing from $349.99 to $399.99
  • Switch Lite: Going up from $199.99 to $229.99

Additionally, various unspecified accessories and select Amiibo figures will also see price hikes. This follows an earlier announcement in April about Amiibo price increases. The Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo will similarly become more expensive after the August implementation date.

While retailer Target has reportedly leaked these new prices through industry insider CentroLeaks, Nintendo has not officially confirmed the exact figures. The company's online store currently shows original pricing but will update on August 3 when the changes take effect.

Interestingly, the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 will maintain its $449.99 launch price for now. Game prices for both current and next-gen Switch systems will remain unchanged, as will Nintendo Switch Online subscription fees. However, Nintendo warns that future adjustments remain possible as they continue monitoring U.S. market conditions.
