Niantic Announces Compensation for Pokemon GO Players After Ultra Unlock Raid Day Bug
2025-08-11 10:19:51Niantic has officially acknowledged a significant issue during the recent Ultra Unlock Raid Day event in Pokemon GO, promising compensation for affected players. The mobile augmented reality game has been hosting numerous summer events, introducing various new Pokemon including Hisuian Zorua, Zoroark, and evolution lines for Snom and Honedge. These events culminate in the upcoming Pokemon GO Fest: "Max Finale" scheduled for later this month.
The Ultra Unlock campaign during Pokemon GO Fest 2025 offered players multiple incentives through Global Challenges. Participants successfully completed various challenge tiers, unlocking special events like the Hisui Celebration, Steel and Scales, and a Raid Day featuring Origin Forme Dialga and Palkia. However, technical issues marred the Raid Day experience.
Through its official support channels, Niantic confirmed a bug affecting the appearance rates of shiny Origin Forme Dialga and Palkia during the event. While the company hasn't specified the exact compensation details, it has promised to make amends for the technical difficulties that prevented players from experiencing the intended increased shiny encounter rates.
This incident comes at a crucial time as Pokemon GO prepares for its major "Max Finale" event from August 18-23, which will introduce Eternatus to the game along with challenging Max Battles against its Eternamax form. The bug-affected Raid Day was meant to be a highlight of the summer event series.
