Hollow Knight: Silksong Priced at $19.99 According to Retailer Leak

Hollow Knight: Silksong will reportedly retail for $19.99 according to a recently discovered retailer listing that seems to have revealed pricing information ahead of schedule. This price point is anticipated to apply to all versions of the highly anticipated sequel.

Hollow Knight: Silksong

After more than five years in development, Hollow Knight: Silksong finally received its official release date during Gamescom 2025, with Team Cherry confirming a September 4 launch. Despite this announcement, the Australian developer has remained completely silent regarding the game's pricing structure.

While official pricing details remain undisclosed, a newly surfaced GameStop listing may have inadvertently revealed the cost. As discovered by Reddit user E1338, the American retailer has begun accepting pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch version of Hollow Knight: Silksong, listing it at $19.99.

The screenshot from GameStop's product page, captured on August 29, 2025, clearly shows the $19.99 price tag. Although Hollow Knight: Silksong has been confirmed for the Switch 2, the physical edition currently offered by GameStop is for the original Switch, ensuring compatibility across both console generations. The absence of other editions on the retailer's website suggests this particular listing may have gone live earlier than intended.

The proposed $19.99 price appears entirely plausible, positioning Silksong just $5 above its predecessor. If accurate, this pricing strategy will likely apply to all platform versions of the game.

Hollow Knight: Silksong

At approximately $20, Hollow Knight: Silksong promises exceptional value for money. Team Cherry has previously confirmed the game will feature over 200 new enemies, more than 40 boss encounters, and around 100 benches for saving progress. With the original Hollow Knight containing 51 benches, this suggests the sequel's map could be roughly twice as large, assuming similar checkpoint distribution patterns.

This expanded scope aligns with Team Cherry's earlier estimation that completing the upcoming game could easily require over 100 hours—significantly more than the original's average 65-hour completion time. One particular area, Greymoor, is reportedly among the largest single environments ever created by the Australian developer.

The 2,158 supporters who backed the original Hollow Knight Kickstarter campaign in 2014 will receive Silksong at no additional cost. This commitment was made years ago when the project began as DLC stretch goal content. Following Hollow Knight's tremendous success and Team Cherry's subsequent financial stability, the three-person studio expanded the concept into a full standalone sequel.

The developer recently explained that honoring this Kickstarter promise is also the reason Hollow Knight: Silksong won't have any reviews available at launch. The studio wants to ensure that backers who supported the original project years ago get to experience the game before anyone else.
