Sworn Joins Xbox Game Pass Ultimate: A Dark Arthurian Roguelike Adventure

2025-09-23 16:55:28

Sworn made its debut on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate on September 23, 2025, becoming the tenth title to join the subscription service this month. This release also marks the 118th new Xbox Game Pass addition since the beginning of the year, continuing Microsoft's commitment to expanding their gaming library.

Sworn

Developed by Texas-based Windwalk Games and published by Team17 (known for the Worms franchise), Sworn presents a unique take on the roguelike action RPG genre. The game features striking cel-shaded visuals with bold ink lines inspired by Michael Mignola's artistic style, best known for creating Hellboy. Players embark on a cooperative adventure for one to four participants, battling through a corrupted version of Camelot ruled by a twisted King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table.

The game draws clear inspiration from Supergiant Games' Hades, featuring multiple unlockable characters and chaotic combat mechanics. Since its Steam Early Access launch, Sworn has garnered over 1,600 "Very Positive" user reviews, establishing itself as a promising addition to the roguelike genre.

After spending seven and a half months in Steam Early Access since its February 2025 debut, Sworn has officially launched its 1.0 version across PC and consoles. While there's no native Xbox One version, Microsoft's cloud gaming technology allows subscribers to experience the game on last-generation hardware through Xbox Cloud Gaming.

Microsoft is treating Sworn as a day-one release, meaning it currently requires an Ultimate-tier membership or PC Game Pass subscription. Based on historical patterns, the game will likely become available to Standard-tier subscribers between March and September 2026. The timing places Sworn in direct competition with its primary inspiration, as Hades recently returned to Xbox Game Pass on September 19, 2025.

Sworn

Three additional titles are scheduled to join Xbox Game Pass before September concludes. Visions of Mana and Peppa Pig: World Adventures arrive on September 25, followed by Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light on September 30. The latter date will also see the removal of three Ninja Gaiden titles from the service.

Microsoft typically announces the Wave 1 Xbox Game Pass lineup for October around October 7. Additionally, surprise additions might occur during the Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2025 Broadcast on September 25, following Microsoft's pattern from 2024 when they unexpectedly added four titles during their TGS livestream.
