The event will include an extended look at Housemarque's upcoming title, Saros.

After the major success of the PlayStation 5 exclusive Returnal in 2021, Housemarque introduced its next intellectual property, Saros, during a State of Play in February 2025. While it is not a direct sequel to Returnal, as many fans had hoped, Housemarque has clarified that the new game builds upon the gameplay mechanics and narrative approach of the 2021 roguelike, with several significant innovations. At its initial reveal earlier this year, the studio highlighted that, unlike Returnal, Saros will enable players to select and permanently enhance their equipment from a evolving arsenal of weapons and suit upgrades, allowing them to "return stronger."

PlayStation enthusiasts who have been eagerly awaiting more details about Saros since its announcement will be delighted to learn that Housemarque will showcase five minutes of gameplay during this week's State of Play event. In a recent blog post, PlayStation confirmed that the next State of Play will occur on Wednesday, September 24, at 2PM PT / 5PM ET / 11PM CEST. The event promises 35 minutes of announcements and updates from developers worldwide, including new glimpses of anticipated third-party and indie games, as well as news from PlayStation Studios teams.

Beyond the confirmation of Saros's appearance, the full lineup for the event remains undisclosed. However, as is typical in the video game industry, numerous leaks and rumors have surfaced. Industry insiders and journalists suggest that the long-awaited Marvel's Wolverine might finally make an appearance at this week's State of Play. Although neither PlayStation nor Insomniac has verified this, it has been four years since the superhero game was first revealed, with little information shared since aside from some unfortunate leaks.
