The beloved heroes in a half shell have a storied history in gaming, particularly with the classic beat 'em ups from the 90s and their modern successors. However, recent Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles titles have ventured into diverse genres.

Last year, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate debuted as a roguelike brawler on Apple Arcade, later expanding to PC and Nintendo Switch. It will soon arrive on PlayStation, with an Xbox release scheduled for June 24. Meanwhile, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown introduced turn-based strategy gameplay earlier this month.

Now, a third TMNT game has been announced, and it's set to immerse players in the Turtles' world through VR. As reported by IGN, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Empire City is being developed by Cortopia Studios of Gorn 2 fame and published by Beyond Frames Entertainment, with a planned 2026 release on Steam VR and Meta Quest. A teaser trailer showcases the action from Michelangelo's first-person perspective.

True to their teamwork ethos, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Empire City supports four-player online multiplayer. Each Turtle wields their signature weapon and special abilities, with gameplay mechanics including quickslot items, stealth takedowns, midair attacks, dashes, and blocking. Players can also explore the Turtles' iconic sewer lair, complete with each brother's personalized room.

Tim Waltz, a veteran writer of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IDW comics and contributor to TMNT: Tactical Takedown, will serve as a narrative consultant. Beyond Frames Entertainment CEO Ace St. Germain emphasizes the game's focus on the Turtles' familial bond, a core theme across the franchise. While no exact release date is set, the game is now available for wishlisting on Steam VR and the Meta Quest Store.
