Hello Games has officially announced the enhanced No Man's Sky edition for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, set to launch alongside the console on June 5th. Existing players on the original Switch will receive the upgrade at no additional cost, taking advantage of the new hardware's improved performance for better visuals and smoother gameplay.

The Beacon update, released just weeks before this announcement, brings significant changes to settlement mechanics. Players can now manage up to four settlements, including those inhabited by the Autophage race. Overseers have greater customization options, from adjusting tavern music to optimizing factory production. Additionally, players can now toggle the Exosuit's AI voice or switch to a new male voice option.

The Switch 2 version marks a major milestone for No Man's Sky, as it will finally support multiplayer and cross-platform play—features absent in the original Switch release. Players can seamlessly transfer their progress across platforms, thanks to integrated cross-save functionality.

Sean Murray, founder of Hello Games, revealed that the Switch 2 port took 12 months to develop, with the team receiving early dev kits in 2024. This version aims to deliver an experience on par with other platforms, leveraging the Switch 2's upgraded hardware for richer visuals and faster load times.

Since its 2016 debut, No Man's Sky has evolved dramatically through free updates, and the Switch 2 edition continues this trend. Fans can expect the same expansive universe, now optimized for Nintendo's next-gen handheld.
