The narrative follows Atsu, a warrior driven by vengeance after the murder of her family. Her journey takes her through the isolated Enzo region of Japan, accompanied by a loyal wolf companion. Sucker Punch confirmed in April that Ghost of Yotei will launch exclusively on PlayStation 5 on October 2, 2025, with less than a year between its reveal and release.

Although Sucker Punch made a brief appearance during the June 4 State of Play, the studio announced a full Ghost of Yotei gameplay showcase scheduled for next month.
