Writer and director Yasumi Matsuno recently shed light on the script modifications in an interview, clarifying that the changes were primarily made to accommodate voice acting and reflect his evolved perspective over the years.

Originally released in 1997 (Japan) and 1998 (North America), Final Fantasy Tactics remains a beloved tactical RPG. The 2007 PSP port, The War of the Lions, introduced new content, but fans have long awaited a modern remaster. Square Enix finally announced The Ivalice Chronicles during a recent State of Play, reigniting excitement for the classic.

In his interview with JPGames.de (via VGC), Matsuno addressed speculation about the script being altered for modern sensibilities. He emphasized that most adjustments were made to optimize the dialogue for voice acting, as the original script was designed to be read rather than spoken. Additionally, Matsuno noted that his personal growth since the game's initial release influenced minor phrasing changes.

For collectors, Square Enix is offering a $200 Collector's Box featuring a Ramza figure, chocobo plush set, and Zodiac Stone magnets—though notably, the game itself isn't included. Meanwhile, director Kazutoyo Maehiro has hinted that this remaster could lead to new Tactics titles, sparking hope for the franchise's future.
