The popular MMORPG Guild Wars 2 has begun teasing its next expansion through a series of mysterious images that appear to be counting down to an official announcement on July 15. These teasers, shared on social media, are believed to represent new elite specializations coming in the game's sixth major expansion.

This development comes shortly after the release of the final update for Janthir Wilds, titled "Absolution," which concluded the current story arc involving the Titans and the ruined city of Bava Nisos. ArenaNet had previously confirmed that details about the next expansion would be revealed in July.

The teaser campaign began on June 30 with an image featuring a lute over an orange and purple hexagon, accompanied by a "15 days" counter. Subsequent posts have shown different symbols, including a winged helmet, with the countdown decreasing each time. While ArenaNet hasn't confirmed their meaning, the community speculates these represent new elite specialization icons.

Players have been particularly intrigued by the lute symbol, with many theorizing it might hint at a Bard or Minstrel specialization - a playful nod to ArenaNet's 2011 April Fools' joke about the Minstrel profession. The winged helmet has sparked discussions about a possible Paragon-inspired specialization, potentially utilizing the new spear weapon introduced in Janthir Wilds.

Originally scheduled for August release, the expansion was recently delayed by two months for additional polish. Based on the current timeline and Guild Wars 2's established update pattern, players can expect the expansion to launch in October 2025, followed by three story updates throughout 2026.
