Techland Cancels Two Upcoming Projects Amid Financial Struggles

2025-07-03 04:25:46

Techland, the Polish studio renowned for the Dying Light and Call of Juarez franchises, has announced the cancellation of two unannounced projects. This decision comes amid significant financial challenges, with the company reporting a deficit of 135 million zł ($37.3 million) in 2024.

The studio, which hasn't released a new title since Dying Light 2: Stay Human in 2022, cited these financial struggles as the primary reason for halting development on the two mystery games. While details remain scarce, one of the canceled projects was speculated to be an open-world fantasy action RPG, a fresh IP teased back in 2022.

Despite these setbacks, Techland continues to support Dying Light 2, recently rolling out Update 1.23 with bug fixes and gameplay tweaks. The studio’s immediate focus now shifts to Dying Light: The Beast, a standalone expansion set to launch on August 22, 2025. Originally planned as DLC, The Beast will bring back fan-favorite protagonist Kyle Crane and introduce enhanced AI for enemies, more dynamic zombie behavior, and a deeper open-world experience.
