Pokemon GO Players Report Golden PokeStop Bug During 9th Anniversary Event

Pokemon GO trainers worldwide are encountering a disruptive bug during the game's 9th anniversary festivities, where Golden PokeStops unexpectedly revert to their standard blue coloration. This technical issue has significantly impacted players' ability to collect special event rewards, particularly the valuable Gimmighoul Coins needed for evolving certain Pokemon.

The much-anticipated 9th Anniversary Party launched on July 1, bringing exciting features including special costumed Pokemon appearances and the debut of shiny Gimmighoul. A key attraction was the temporary transformation of regular PokeStops into golden variants without requiring Golden Lure Modules, offering enhanced rewards. However, numerous players report these golden stops visually resetting to blue as they approach, preventing them from claiming their bonuses.

Community reports on platforms like Reddit's TheSilphRoad highlight widespread frustration. One trainer shared: "I specifically traveled downtown after work to hunt golden stops, only to watch seven out of eight disappear as I reached them." Another player lamented wasting their entire lunch break attempting to collect coins from these unstable golden waypoints.

Niantic has officially recognized the problem through their Help Center, classifying it as a visual bug that shouldn't technically prevent coin collection. However, player experiences contradict this assessment, with many reporting complete inability to interact with affected stops. The development team has marked the issue as 'under investigation' but hasn't provided an estimated resolution timeline.

This technical setback arrives during one of Pokemon GO's most significant monthly event schedules. Alongside the anniversary celebration, July features Community Days for Quaxly and Eevee, plus the introduction of Hisuian Zorua through the Ultra Unlock: Hisui Celebration event starting July 8.
