Exciting news for Nintendo fans! The beloved classic Super Smash Bros. might soon be available through the Nintendo Switch Online service. This speculation comes from a subtle but intriguing detail spotted in a recent Nintendo promotional video.

The potential leak originates from Nintendo's official video showcasing new N64 features for Switch Online, released alongside the Switch 2 in May 2025. The video highlights various enhancements including a CRT filter, control remapping options, and game rewinding functionality.

Sharp-eyed Reddit user Starfox6664 noticed something remarkable in the video's segment about the CRT filter. While demonstrating this feature, the blurred background shows various N64 game covers from the Switch Online library. At approximately the 40-second mark, the bottom-right corner reveals artwork that strongly resembles Super Smash Bros. - complete with its distinctive tricolor logo and what appears to be Pikachu's yellow silhouette in the exact position from the original cover.

Interestingly, another Reddit user, LukePS7013, spotted what might be the cover of Glover in the same blurred background section. This 1998 platformer received a remaster in February 2025, which also launched on Switch. Nintendo has previously included both original and remastered versions of games in their Switch Online service, as seen with Shadow Man and the Turok series.

The original Super Smash Bros. holds a special place in gaming history with its unique mechanics, including longer combos enabled by higher stun values compared to later entries. While this makes the game somewhat less accessible to modern players, its historical significance and nostalgic appeal would make it a perfect addition to the NSO library.

Nintendo typically adds new titles to Switch Online without following a predictable schedule. The most recent N64 addition was Killer Instinct Gold on May 16, following Shadow Man and Ridge Racer 64 in October 2024. If this leak proves accurate, Super Smash Bros. could arrive at any time - though Nintendo hasn't made any official announcements.
