A recent update to Pokemon TCG Pocket's Wonder Picks system has significantly improved the chances of obtaining rare EX cards. With over 200 EX cards currently available in the game, this enhancement is a major win for dedicated collectors striving to complete their sets.

Wonder Picks in Pokemon TCG Pocket offer players an alternative way to acquire cards without opening traditional booster packs. Each Pick presents a selection of cards based on rarity, with the available pool influenced by choices made by other players, including friends and random collectors. The Stamina cost varies depending on the rarity: Common cards require 1 Stamina, basic rares cost 2 Stamina, while Rare Picks featuring full arts or EX Pokemon demand at least 3 Stamina.

As noted by Reddit user INDIGO, developer DeNA has implemented changes to Wonder Picks during the July Pokemon TCG Pocket Mass Outbreak, now ensuring two EX cards appear in every Rare Pick. Since the game's launch in October 2024, Rare Picks typically contained just one EX card, which limited collection progress. While some players occasionally encountered multiple EX cards in previous events like the June 2025 Mass Outbreak, the July update marks the first time two unique EX cards are guaranteed in every Rare Pick.

While the increased EX card rates are certainly beneficial, players should note that duplicate pulls remain a possibility. Currently, Pokemon TCG Pocket lacks any pity system to prevent repeated card acquisitions. Given that Rare Picks consume three Stamina points, free-to-play players might still face challenges in completing their ideal decks.

Further updates to the game's mechanics may be forthcoming, as a Pokemon TCG Pocket announcement during the 11th Pokemon Presents is scheduled for July 22. Rumors suggest this presentation might include a teaser for a new card set. If these rumors prove true and additional EX cards are introduced, players would be wise to conserve their Stamina for future Rare Pick opportunities.
