Project Cars 3, the final installment in the racing series, will be removed from digital storefronts on August 24. Fans who want to add this title to their collection should make their purchase soon. Originally released in 2020, the game was developed by Slightly Mad Studios and published by Bandai Namco, but the franchise was officially discontinued by EA in late 2022.

The game generated significant excitement before its launch, boasting over 200 cars, 130 global circuits, and dynamic features like day-night cycles, seasonal changes, and realistic weather effects. Unlike its predecessors, which leaned into simulation-style gameplay, Project Cars 3 adopted a more arcade-like approach, making it more accessible to casual players. Despite winning Best Simulation Game at Gamescom 2020, the title received mixed reviews due to issues with its Career Mode and technical glitches.

A notice on the Steam page confirms that Project Cars 3 will no longer be available for purchase after August 24. However, players who already own the game will still be able to redownload and play it, and online services will remain active until February 24, 2026. Additionally, any DLCs purchased before the delisting will still be accessible. This follows the removal of Project Cars 1 and 2 in 2022, likely due to expiring car and track licenses.

In November 2022, EA announced the end of the Project Cars franchise, halting development on Project Cars 4, which was intended to return to the series' simulation roots. Ian Bell, former CEO of Slightly Mad Studios, criticized EA for prioritizing profits over the developers and their families.

While Project Cars may be fading, another racing game has taken the spotlight in 2025. Surprisingly, Forza Horizon 5, once an Xbox exclusive, has become the best-selling game on PS5 this year, with over 3 million copies sold since its release on Sony’s platform. Other upcoming racing titles, such as Endurance Motorsport Series and Project Motor Racing, are also expected to launch soon.
