After a three-year wait, the release date is finally approaching, and recent months have seen the unveiling of two trailers and behind-the-scenes footage, further fueling anticipation.

Konami has entrusted several new Silent Hill projects to external developers, all announced during the 2022 Silent Hill Transmission event. Among these, Silent Hill f stands out as the only full-fledged new entry in the series, raising expectations considerably. While Silent Hill: Ascension and Silent Hill: The Short Message received lukewarm responses, the multi-award-winning Silent Hill 2 remake by Bloober Team has rekindled enthusiasm for Silent Hill f.

This upcoming title marks a bold departure for the series, as it is the first mainline game not set in the fictional town of Silent Hill, Maine. Instead, Silent Hill f takes place in Japan. Interestingly, writer Ryukishi07 revealed that the game was almost set in Shizuoka Prefecture, whose name translates to "Quiet Hill." However, the developers ultimately chose Kanayama in Gifu Prefecture as the inspiration for the game's setting, the fictional town of Ebisugaoka.

Players will follow high schooler Hinako Shimizu as she navigates fog-laden streets, battles grotesque monsters, solves intricate puzzles, and confronts her inner demons. Despite the new setting, NeoBards has included nods to previous games, ensuring Silent Hill f feels connected to the franchise's legacy. The game also features music by series composer Akira Yamaoka, promising the iconic atmospheric soundscapes fans love.

In addition to Silent Hill f, Bloober Team's announcement of a remake of the original Silent Hill has given fans even more to look forward to. With its fresh setting and classic horror elements, Silent Hill f is poised to deliver a unique yet familiar experience for both longtime fans and newcomers.
