Friday the 13th Game Sequel Officially Announced by Horror Inc.
2025-07-27 05:55:38Horror Inc. has officially announced that a follow-up to the 2017 Friday the 13th video game is currently in production. This confirmation comes after months of speculation regarding new adaptations of the legendary horror franchise.
Back in 2024, Horror Inc., the rights holder of the Friday the 13th intellectual property, unveiled ambitious plans to expand the iconic slasher series across multiple media platforms, including gaming. Under the Jason Universe initiative, the company partnered with Victor Miller, the original screenwriter of the Friday the 13th films, to develop various projects. A licensing deal in May 2025 hinted at potential new game development, which has now been verified by the creators of Jason Universe.
During San Diego Comic-Con 2025 (as reported by Bloody Disgusting), Robbie Barsamian, Executive Vice President of Horror Inc., revealed that both a sequel to Friday the 13th: The Game and a follow-up to the 2009 film are top priorities for the company. Barsamian, who also served as an executive producer for the original game, stated that while formal announcements with partners are still forthcoming, development is actively underway for both projects.
This news brings hope to fans of Friday the 13th: The Game, which saw diminishing support in recent years. The game was removed from digital storefronts in late 2023, and its online servers were shut down the following year, leaving only offline play with bots available. While details about the sequel remain scarce, its confirmation alone gives enthusiasts something to anticipate in the coming years.
In the interim, horror gaming fans can look forward to several upcoming titles, including Bloober Team's Cronos: The New Dawn and the Japan-set Silent Hill project. 2026 will also see the release of Resident Evil Requiem, another major entry in the survival horror genre.
