The gaming world is abuzz with anticipation for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, the upcoming remake of what many consider to be the pinnacle of the Metal Gear series. However, one notable figure won't be experiencing this nostalgic journey - the franchise's original creator, Hideo Kojima.

In a recent interview with Ssense, Kojima was asked whether he planned to play the remake of his 2004 masterpiece when it launches on August 28. His response was a simple laugh followed by a firm "no," offering no further commentary on the project. This comes as little surprise given Kojima's well-documented departure from Konami in 2015, which led to the formation of his independent studio, Kojima Productions.

While Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater promises to retain the core stealth mechanics and beloved characters that made the original a classic, Kojima has moved on to new creative endeavors. He's currently developing Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, maintaining creative control over his own intellectual property. Additionally, Kojima is working on two other intriguing projects:

• OD: A psychological horror game co-developed with acclaimed filmmaker Jordan Peele
• Physint: A spiritual successor to Metal Gear that Kojima describes as "the culmination of my work"

Beyond gaming, Kojima is expanding into other media, with a live-action Death Stranding film in development under director Michael Sarnoski (A Quiet Place: Day One). With such an ambitious slate of projects, it's understandable why Kojima wouldn't have time to revisit his past work, even in remade form.

Konami has assured fans that Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will remain faithful to the original game's vision, despite Kojima's absence. The remake will feature updated graphics powered by Unreal Engine 5 while preserving the Cold War-era story of Big Boss's mission to stop a Soviet superweapon.
