Originally unveiled during E3 2016, the Xbox Design Lab faced temporary closures - first in October 2020 during the Xbox Series X|S launch, then again in December 2024 for payment system upgrades. The service's return fulfills Microsoft's commitment to personalized gaming hardware.

The revamped Xbox Design Lab features an advanced 3D modeling interface that instantly visualizes design choices. Players can experiment with countless combinations of colors, textures, button styles, and even laser engravings, ensuring perfect satisfaction before purchase.

Two controller models are available: the standard $80 Xbox Wireless Controller and the premium $170 Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2. While basic customizations like color swaps are free, premium options such as translucent shells, rubberized grips, or special engravings carry additional costs.
