Capcom has announced extended support for Monster Hunter Wilds to resolve persistent PC performance problems, with planned updates stretching beyond the winter season. The game initially attracted nearly 1.4 million concurrent players on Steam at launch but has since experienced significant player attrition due to technical difficulties plaguing the PC version.

While Monster Hunter Wilds achieved record-breaking sales of over 8 million copies in its first three days, becoming Capcom's fastest-selling title, PC players have faced consistent challenges. Even high-end gaming systems struggle with optimization issues that have persisted since launch. The development team recently accelerated their update schedule, moving the next major patch from September to August 13, though comprehensive PC fixes will require more time.

Game director Yuya Tokuda confirmed through VGC that performance improvements will continue through multiple future updates. While Title Update 2 in June addressed some concerns, Tokuda emphasized the complexity of reducing CPU strain without compromising gameplay quality. "We understand player concerns about system stability, particularly for certain CPU configurations," Tokuda stated, noting that significant CPU optimization will debut in Title Update 4 this winter.

The technical issues have impacted the game's reception, with Steam reviews plummeting to "Overwhelmingly Negative" in June. Sales have similarly declined sharply, with only 477,000 copies sold in the most recent quarter - a dramatic drop from initial figures. This downturn appears directly tied to player frustration with performance problems and content gaps.
