2025-08-16 01:43:19Electronic Arts has recently unveiled a wealth of new information about the upcoming Skate game, offering fans a deeper look into its customization features, live-service model, and soundtrack. This exciting update comes just weeks before the game's early access launch.
The fourth installment in the beloved skateboarding franchise, Skate is being developed by Full Circle Studio, EA's Vancouver-based team. Initially announced in June 2020, the game has been confirmed as a free-to-play live-service title. While the exact release date remains unconfirmed, early access is slated for late summer 2025. As expected from a live-service game, customization will play a central role in Skate. Players will have access to an extensive character creator, allowing for endless combinations. Additionally, they can customize their skateboards and outfits with a variety of cosmetics, which can be unlocked through gameplay or purchases. Completing challenges and missions will earn Rip Chips, a unique currency used to unlock loot boxes and increase the Rip Score, granting access to even more gear.
The game's soundtrack will feature over 100 tracks at launch, with a focus on emerging artists. Players can favorite songs and playlists, and community favorites will be highlighted in the evolving San Van Jams playlist. Some tracks will be hidden collectibles in the game world, discoverable in cars and skate spots. More music will be added through seasonal updates.
