After months of community voting, a cherry blossom-inspired dragon emerged victorious, showcasing the creative collaboration between developers and fans.

Companions in Disney Dreamlight Valley serve as more than just charming collectibles. These creatures mirror the functionality of Villagers, offering tangible gameplay advantages. As players deepen their bonds with Companions, they unlock expanded inventory space, bonus resource gathering, and exclusive cosmetic rewards like furniture and outfits. The game currently boasts over 150 unique animal Companions, including limited-time event exclusives and crossover characters like Beauty and the Beast's enchanted footstool and Star Wars' iconic R2-D2.

The journey to create this special Companion began in June 2025 with a series of player votes that shaped its core identity. Early rounds established the creature as a cottagecore dragon with floral elements, while the final August poll determined its visual design from three developer-crafted options. The winning pink Eastern dragon, adorned with cherry blossom motifs across its petal-like scales and branch-shaped horns, secured 66% of votes, triumphing over sunflower and autumn leaf-themed alternatives.
