Helldivers 2 Expands to Xbox with Halo Crossover and New Content Teases
2025-08-20 22:28:01Arrowhead Game Studios CEO Shams Jorjani has responded to community feedback regarding the increased price of Helldivers 2's Halo warbond collaboration while hinting at exciting future content updates. The popular cooperative shooter is set to make its debut on Xbox platforms on August 26, potentially signaling a significant shift in Sony's approach to multiplatform multiplayer titles.
To commemorate Helldivers 2's expansion to Xbox, Arrowhead Game Studios unveiled their latest major collaboration during Gamescom Opening Night Live. The showcase featured the Halo 3: ODST Legendary Warbond, introducing the Helljumper and Recon armor sets alongside new weapons, cosmetic skins, and various items inspired by Microsoft's iconic franchise. The pricing structure for this special Warbond package has generated considerable discussion within the player community.
Through the official Helldivers 2 Discord channel, CEO Shams Jorjani addressed the 1,500 Super Credit cost associated with the Halo 3 ODST Warbond. Jorjani clarified that this elevated price point represents an exception rather than a new standard, specifically applying to Legendary Warbonds that feature cross-IP collaborations rather than original content. The increased cost primarily reflects licensing expenses, additional development requirements for collaborative projects, and approval processes from intellectual property rights holders. Fortunately, this Halo 3: ODST content will remain permanently accessible within Helldivers 2, though customization options may be limited due to licensing restrictions.
Interestingly, this collaboration may not represent the only new content approaching release. Community representatives have indicated that the Halo Warbond constitutes a special release separate from Arrowhead's regular content schedule. Standard premium Warbonds will continue alongside these special collaborations at the established 1,000 Super Credit price point. The development team has teased upcoming content described as "awesome," with speculation pointing toward an early September release window based on the typical 5-7 week interval between content drops, following July's Control Group expansion.
With an influx of new players joining the established PlayStation and PC communities, Arrowhead appears poised to deliver substantial additional content. Beyond the evolving Galactic War narrative, recent leaks suggest potential new adversary types may soon challenge Helldivers. While unconfirmed officially, data miners have uncovered evidence pointing toward possible Illuminate enemy units, including a Zealot-class opponent capable of summoning reinforcements while utilizing whip-based attacks to close combat distances.
