Bethesda has officially announced that a comprehensive CAMP update for Fallout 76 will be released to all players on September 2. Originally launched in 2018, Fallout 76 has received continuous support through regular updates introducing new features, content expansions, and quality-of-life enhancements to maintain engagement within its dedicated player community.

Fallout 76

The CAMP system represents one of Fallout 76's most creative aspects, allowing players to express their architectural vision by constructing various bases throughout the post-apocalyptic landscape. Players gain access to this feature immediately upon exiting Vault 76, enabling base construction across the irradiated wilderness. To expand their building options, players can acquire new structures through vendor purchases, event completion rewards, or environmental discoveries. This feature has consistently fostered community interaction through the sharing of impressive construction projects, and it's now poised for substantial improvements.

The September 2 update will introduce a completely revamped CAMP system, as revealed through a recent Developer Preview featuring Creative Director Jon Rush. The most noticeable change will be a completely redesigned workshop menu with enhanced navigation capabilities, enabling players to locate items more efficiently and accelerate their building process. All items have been systematically organized into primary categories including Lights, Decoration, and Storage, with further subdivision into specific types such as Candles and Lamps.

Another significant improvement involves the elimination of construction restrictions regarding item placement. Current limitations preventing certain constructions in floating CAMPs will be removed, allowing players greater flexibility in creating aerial bases. Post-update, builders will enjoy expanded capabilities including item toggling, snapping, intersection, and unrestricted placement, substantially increasing creative freedom. These changes collectively represent a substantial quality-of-life improvement designed to streamline base construction and provide enhanced tools for architectural expression.

Coinciding with this major overhaul, Fallout 76 will initiate a monthly CAMP creation competition series beginning in late 2025. While specific competition details remain undisclosed, the developers have confirmed that participants will have the opportunity to win substantial prizes. This initiative, combined with the removal of previous building limitations and introduction of new features, demonstrates Bethesda's commitment to revitalizing this popular game aspect and enhancing player creativity.
