Code Violet Delays Launch to Avoid Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Competition

In a strategic move to avoid direct competition with one of gaming's biggest franchises, TeamKill Media has announced the delay of their PlayStation 5 exclusive dinosaur horror title, Code Violet. The game, originally scheduled for November 14, will now launch on December 12, 2025, putting distance between itself and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7's release date.

Code Violet Delays

Drawing inspiration from the legendary Dino Crisis series, Code Violet aims to resurrect the heart-pounding terror of early 2000s survival horror. TeamKill Media positions their creation as a spiritual successor to Capcom's dormant franchise, transporting players to a dystopian 25th century where Earth has become uninhabitable. Players assume the role of Violet Sinclair, a woman violently ripped from her timeline by the Aion colony, which seeks to abduct women from the past as surrogates in a desperate attempt to save humanity from extinction.

The decision to postpone the release came after Activision confirmed that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 would launch on the exact same date TeamKill Media had originally chosen. In an official statement shared via Twitter, the publisher explained that competing with the Call of Duty marketing machine would be "impossible" from a visibility standpoint. The additional development time will be used to enhance character models and optimize the overall experience for a more polished launch.

As compensation for the delay, TeamKill Media will include two exclusive Christmas-themed outfits for players at launch. The studio also reaffirmed its commitment to keeping Code Violet a PlayStation 5 exclusive, despite fan requests for a PC version. The developers maintain their stance against potential modding that could compromise their artistic vision and the integrity of their characters.

Meanwhile, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 prepares for its November 14 launch across multiple platforms including PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. The direct sequel to 2012's Black Ops 2 promises remastered maps, futuristic combat, and the return of fan-favorite characters, though the announcement trailer has already faced significant criticism from the community.
