Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 to Buff Aim Assist
2025-11-21 13:40:38Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 developer Treyarch Studios has announced plans to adjust the game's Aim Assist system ahead of the upcoming Season 1 update. According to Matt Scronce, the game's design director, these changes will focus on slightly increasing Aim Assist strength over range. This decision comes after monitoring player feedback and internal data, aiming to improve the long-range aiming experience.

The initial changes to Aim Assist, introduced just before the game's launch, altered how Rotational Aim Assist works. Previously, full Aim Assist strength was available regardless of aiming direction or controller input. Now, players must track enemy targets with the right stick to activate full Aim Assist strength. This latest tweak aims to enhance Aim Assist's effectiveness at longer ranges, addressing player concerns about its limited impact in such scenarios.
While no specific release date has been confirmed for these changes, Scronce assured fans that they will be implemented before the launch of Season 1, which is speculated to begin in early December.
In addition to Aim Assist adjustments, Treyarch is also addressing weapon balancing. Submachine Guns (SMGs) are set to receive a general buff, with specific attachments targeting recoil and range improvements. Meanwhile, Marksman Rifles, Sniper Rifles, and Shotguns are currently under review, with no immediate plans for buffs or nerfs but ongoing data monitoring to ensure they remain balanced.
These updates reflect Treyarch's commitment to refining gameplay mechanics based on player feedback and performance data, aiming to enhance the overall experience in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.
