Epic Games Store to Remove Dark and Darker from Player Libraries Due to Legal Dispute

The Epic Games Store has announced that it will remove Dark and Darker from users' libraries on November 1, 2025. This rare move comes as a result of the ongoing legal battle between Nexon and the game's developer, Ironmace.

Released in 2023, Dark and Darker is a first-person dungeon crawler RPG set in a dark fantasy world, featuring ten distinct character classes. The game has been embroiled in controversy due to allegations of copyright infringement, with Nexon claiming that Ironmace used assets from an unreleased project, P3.

Recent court rulings have forced Ironmace to pay $5.7 million in damages to Nexon for misusing trade secrets, though copyright claims were dismissed. As a result, Epic Games Store has decided to remove Dark and Darker from players' accounts, along with discontinuing sales of Redstone Shards and the Legendary Status upgrade.

Players who purchased the Legendary Status upgrade will receive refunds via their original payment method or Epic account balance. However, refunds for Redstone Shards will not be issued.

This decision follows the game's earlier delisting from the Epic Games Store in March and its removal from Steam earlier this year. While the Steam version's fate remains uncertain, the legal troubles suggest a similar outcome.
