Nightdive Studios has announced an unexpected delay for the console versions of the highly anticipated System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster. While the PC version remains on schedule for its June 26 release date, players on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms will need to wait until early July to experience this classic game's modern revival.

Originally announced back in 2019 as System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition, this remaster celebrates the 25th anniversary of the groundbreaking 1999 sci-fi horror FPS. The game pioneered many elements that would become staples of the immersive sim genre, influencing countless titles that followed.

Nightdive Studios confirmed via social media that technical issues have forced the console delay, though they're working to resolve these problems for a release within the first two weeks of July. The studio has built a strong reputation for quality remasters, particularly with their excellent 2023 remake of the original System Shock.
