Remedy Entertainment has announced an impressive milestone for their newest title, FBC: Firebreak, which has attracted over one million players within just nine days of its June 17 launch. The game represents a bold departure from Remedy's signature single-player narrative experiences, offering instead a cooperative multiplayer shooter set in the mysterious world of the Federal Bureau of Control.

Available across multiple platforms including Xbox Game Pass from day one, FBC: Firebreak immerses players in the enigmatic Oldest House six years after the events of Control. Teams of up to three players, known as Firebreakers, work together to contain the ongoing Hiss invasion through various sectors of the shape-shifting headquarters.

While the game launched to mixed reviews, particularly regarding its complex mechanics and lack of tutorials, Remedy has been quick to respond to player feedback. Several updates have already improved progression systems and user interface elements to make the experience more accessible to newcomers.

Unlike traditional live-service models, FBC: Firebreak adopts a unique approach with its monetization. While offering optional cosmetic purchases called Classified Requisitions, Remedy has committed to providing all future gameplay content updates for free. The studio has already revealed plans for additional locations, weapons, and missions coming later this year.

The game's relatively affordable price point compared to other AAA titles, combined with its availability on subscription services, has contributed to its rapid player adoption. However, some critics note the current content offering feels limited, a concern Remedy hopes to address through its planned expansions.
