Despite CD Projekt Red's previous statements about concluding major updates for Cyberpunk 2077, the studio continues to support the game with substantial patches. While update 2.2 was expected to be the final major release, the developer recently announced that patch 2.3 is forthcoming for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC platforms. However, this update has experienced a slight delay from its originally planned June 26 release date as the team seeks additional polish time. A revised launch window remains unconfirmed.

While still below its launch peak of over one million players, these numbers represent remarkable longevity for a nearly five-year-old single-player title.

Industry analysts attribute this player surge to multiple factors, most notably the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2 announcement during Anime Expo 2025. CD Projekt Red confirmed their continued collaboration with Studio TRIGGER for this new chapter, described as "a raw, real chronicle of redemption and revenge" set in Night City. When update 2.3 eventually releases, another player count spike is anticipated.
