Originally released in 2020, The Last of Us Part 2 captivated audiences with its bold, non-linear storytelling approach that alternated between protagonists Ellie and Abby while incorporating emotionally charged flashbacks. This narrative technique, while artistically ambitious, proved challenging for some players to follow. The new Chronological Experience mode addresses this by presenting key moments like Joel gifting Ellie her guitar before her musical journey begins, and clearly illustrating how Ellie and Abby's paths intersect during the Seattle sequences.
