The Monster Hunter Stories series, known for its turn-based combat and monster-collecting mechanics reminiscent of Pokemon, diverges from the action-packed gameplay of the mainline Monster Hunter titles. The first game debuted on Nintendo 3DS in 2016 (2017 internationally) and later expanded to mobile devices, Switch, PS4, and PC. Its sequel, Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, followed in 2021 for Switch and PC, with a PS4 version arriving in 2024.
