Overwatch 2 Season 18 Preview: Wuyang Hero Trial and Exciting Updates
2025-08-09 03:01:03Blizzard has announced exciting news for Overwatch 2 players as Season 18 approaches. The developers revealed that Wuyang, the new Support Hero, will be available for a limited Hero Trial from August 14 to 18. This trial period gives players an exclusive opportunity to experience Wuyang's unique abilities before his official release on August 26.
August proves to be an action-packed month for Overwatch 2. On August 5, Blizzard launched a special collaboration with Nerf, introducing six weapon skins inspired by the popular toy brand along with a Legendary skin for Cassidy. The event also features a unique Nerf or Nothin' deathmatch mode, running until August 18. This fast-paced mode excludes Support heroes and reduces cooldowns by 80%, creating chaotic and thrilling matches.
While Wuyang won't participate in the Nerf crossover event, fans can look forward to testing this aquatic-themed Support Hero during his trial period. Originally teased under the codename "Aqua," Wuyang hails from China's Wuxing University as a student of the Water College. Blizzard plans to release a motion comic, gameplay trailer, and developer livestream in the days leading up to the trial.
Wuyang's abilities focus on water manipulation, allowing him to disrupt enemies while healing allies. His E ability summons a Guardian Wave that boosts teammate healing and repels foes. The Ultimate Ability, Tidal Blast, creates a protective water shield that can explode to knock down enemies while healing its beneficiary. Players can also customize Wuyang's perks to enhance his healing capabilities or increase his control over water orbs.
Season 18 brings more than just Wuyang to Overwatch 2. Players can expect a new Mythic skin for Sojourn and various hero balance changes. These updates continue Blizzard's commitment to keeping the game fresh and engaging for its dedicated player base.
