Resident Evil 7: Biohazard Rumored for Nintendo Switch 2 Announcement
2025-09-09 00:29:53Rumors are circulating that Resident Evil 7: Biohazard could be unveiled for the Nintendo Switch 2 in an upcoming Nintendo Direct presentation, according to sources within the gaming industry. Although neither Nintendo nor Capcom has officially confirmed a Switch 2 port, the speculation aligns with previous hints about "three sevens" appearing in the broadcast.
First launched in January 2017 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard introduced Ethan Winters as the main character and marked a significant shift for the series. It was the first Resident Evil game to adopt a first-person perspective and the debut title for Capcom's RE Engine, which has since powered major releases like Monster Hunter Wilds and the anticipated Resident Evil Requiem. A cloud-based version of RE7 was later made available on the original Nintendo Switch in Japan in 2018 and globally in 2022, serving as a solution to the hardware constraints of the console.
While these rumors should be approached cautiously, two industry sources have indicated that Resident Evil 7: Biohazard might soon be announced for another platform. On Twitter, gaming leaker Nash Weedle supported a claim by content creator Attack The Backlog, both suggesting that Capcom would showcase a horror title in a rumored September Nintendo Direct. Nash Weedle referenced RE7 antagonist Eveline's iconic line, "stay away," adding intrigue to the speculation. The original post by Attack The Backlog, which Nash Weedle quoted, also hinted at broader rumors regarding the potential Nintendo Direct episode.
On September 6, another content creator, SwitchForce, mentioned that a rumored Nintendo Direct might air on September 12 and feature "three sevens" throughout the show. While Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade and 007 First Light—both expected on Switch 2—fit this description, the same could apply to Resident Evil 7: Biohazard if it is indeed announced for the new console.
As of now, Nintendo has not confirmed the date for its next Direct, and Capcom has not announced any plans to bring RE7 to the Switch 2. Given that Resident Evil 7: Biohazard is celebrated for returning the franchise to its horror origins, fans are eager to see if this beloved title will receive a native port on Nintendo's upcoming hardware.
