Techland has officially unveiled the patch notes for Dying Light 2 Update 1.23, marking the beginning of the highly anticipated UGC Fest—a month-long celebration spotlighting the game's vibrant modding community. This update underscores Techland's dedication to Dying Light 2: Stay Human, aligning with their promise to support the title for at least five years post-launch.

The Dying Light franchise has seen a surge in activity recently, likely fueled by the upcoming release of Dying Light: The Beast on August 22, 2025. Earlier this week, Techland also announced the Retouched Update for the original Dying Light, delivering a visual overhaul to enhance texture quality for the decade-old game.

Dying Light 2 Update 1.23

The centerpiece of Update 1.23 is the UGC Fest, a four-week event showcasing community-created maps via Dying Light 2's Steam-based map editor. Each week, three new maps will be featured, with players completing bounties to earn exclusive rewards. The event runs from June 26 to July 23, with weekly rotations including maps like Lunar Heist, Harran Prison, and Ancient Colosseum.

A standout gameplay tweak is the 50% increase to the default immunity timer, allowing players more time outdoors at night before infection sets in. The update also introduces a crossover with the indie hit Balatro, offering the Friend of Aiden Bundle—complete with themed cosmetics and the gameplay-altering Joker Charm.

Patch Notes Highlights

  • Co-Op Fixes: Resolved issues with session visibility, offline friends, and respawn mechanics.
  • Tower Raid: Adjusted layouts for Floors 1, 8, and 18; fixed animation and clipping bugs.
  • Gameplay: Addressed weapon mods, enemy behavior, and UI inconsistencies.
  • Technical: Improved lighting, sound, and platform-specific crashes on PlayStation and Xbox.

Event Schedule

  • Week 1 (June 26–July 2): LFG, Lunar Heist, Dying Guys
  • Week 2 (July 3–9): Desert Fury, The Intersection, Harran Prison
  • Week 3 (July 10–16): Holy Bullets, Aiden’s Nightmare, Island Marathon
  • Week 4 (July 17–23): Ancient Colosseum, Ruins of Hope, Fish Hunt

The Balatro collaboration quests can be triggered via posters in the Bazaar (Trinity) and Fish Eye Settlement (New Dawn Park). While most items are cosmetic, the Joker Charm randomizes 12 unique effects each time it’s crafted, adding replay value.

Techland continues to solidify Dying Light 2's longevity with this update, blending community-driven content with meaningful gameplay refinements. Players can dive into the UGC Fest now and explore the Balatro crossover until July 23.
