Rumors Suggest a Nintendo Direct Showcase for Switch 2 Titles Could Still Arrive in July
2025-07-15 01:49:48A Nintendo Direct presentation spotlighting upcoming Switch 2 games might still take place in July, according to credible industry sources. While Nintendo and its partners remain silent about an official announcement, leaks suggest the showcase could occur shortly after the release of Donkey Kong Bananza.
The Switch 2 has dominated 2025's gaming market, selling approximately five million units in its debut month. Its success stems not just from exclusive titles but also from enhanced versions of popular Switch games like Pokemon Scarlet and Violet and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, offering both free and premium upgrades. Among this summer's most awaited releases is Donkey Kong Bananza, launching on July 17, followed closely by Mario Kart World.
Speculation about a summer Nintendo Direct has circulated since Summer Game Fest, with insider NateTheHate recently suggesting the event could air post-Donkey Kong Bananza. During a July 14 podcast, NateTheHate and co-host MVG highlighted potential third-party additions like Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition and Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade, which could further boost the Switch 2's appeal.
Approximately 32 minutes into the podcast, NateTheHate revealed that some developers are withholding project details, possibly for a Nintendo Direct reveal. While Nintendo hasn't confirmed any dates, this fuels rumors of an imminent showcase.
The discussion also touched on Nintendo's 2025 holiday lineup, including Pokemon Legends: Z-A (October 16) and the elusive Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. Initially announced in June 2024 as a 2025 title, Metroid Prime 4's exact release date might be unveiled in an upcoming Direct.
Currently, the only confirmed Nintendo-related event is Pokemon Presents on July 22 at 9:00 AM ET. Whether NateTheHate's prediction holds true remains to be seen.
