Blumhouse and Universal Pictures have unveiled a chilling new trailer for Five Nights at Freddy's 2, generating excitement among horror enthusiasts. However, amidst the positive reception, eagle-eyed fans spotted a significant error in Blumhouse's social media interaction regarding one of the iconic animatronics.

The Five Nights at Freddy's franchise, created by Scott Cawthon, began as a survival horror video game series in 2014. Players assume the role of a night-shift security guard at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, a haunted restaurant where animatronic characters come to life with deadly intentions. The series has since expanded into novels and live-action films, with the first movie releasing in 2023.

The sequel, directed by Emma Tammi, sees Josh Hutcherson reprising his role alongside new cast members including Skeet Ulrich and Mckenna Grace. A recent promotional poster revealed Toy Freddy, a fan-favorite variant of the original animatronic, further fueling anticipation for the December 2025 release.

The controversy emerged when Blumhouse responded to a fan comment on social media, referring to the animatronic Bonnie as "she" in a meme-inspired reply. This sparked outrage among fans, as Bonnie has been consistently identified with male pronouns in the game's official lore. The incident led to accusations that Blumhouse hadn't properly researched the franchise's established canon.

Interestingly, this isn't the first time Bonnie has been at the center of confusion. Creator Scott Cawthon previously had to clarify the animatronic's color scheme to both fans and the film production team, highlighting the challenges of adapting game lore to the big screen

The sequel's trailer showcased the terrifying withered versions of the animatronics, with fans divided over their designs. While many praised the movie versions as more frightening than their game counterparts, some pointed out discrepancies, particularly regarding Withered Chica's jaw movement. Speculation suggests this might be a deliberate choice for a dramatic reveal in the film.
