NASCAR Heat Online Servers to Shut Down in August 2025
2025-07-05 08:34:12The online era for NASCAR Heat games is coming to an end, with official server shutdown scheduled for August 1, 2025. While the community anticipated this eventual sunsetting, many remain disappointed about losing online play capabilities in the franchise's most recent installments.
This development follows the December 2024 delisting of multiple NASCAR titles from digital storefronts, including NASCAR Heat 4, NASCAR Heat 5, NASCAR Rivals, and NASCAR 21: Ignition. While these games became unavailable for purchase, their online functionality remained operational—until now.
The NASCAR Heat franchise initially developed by Monster Games transitioned to Motorsport Games as publisher beginning with NASCAR Heat 5, with 704Games handling development. The recent transfer of NASCAR gaming rights to iRacing has ultimately led to the termination of online services for the Heat series.
Silver lining exists for fans—both NASCAR Heat 4 and 5 will retain offline functionality including split-screen multiplayer. Unlike some always-online titles that become completely unplayable after server shutdowns, these racing simulations will maintain core gameplay features.
The community's frustration stems partly from the uncertain release timeline for NASCAR 25, the franchise's next installment expected in fall 2025. Many players hoped the Heat servers would remain operational until the new title's launch.
This shutdown joins a growing list of 2025 online service terminations, including 13 EA titles and Ubisoft's The Crew—the latter sparking the "Stop Killing Games" movement that has collected over 1 million signatures protesting the practice of making games completely unplayable after server closures.
